Increasing exports

The Food and Drink Exporters Association (FDEA) and the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) have developed a five-step guide to help branded food and drink manufacturers source new export destinations.

‘Food and Drink Exporting- Five steps to success’ was launched today with an aim to boost branded UK food exports by a third by the year 2020, increasing sales to more than £6 billion. Currently, only one in five UK manufacturers export their products, according to the FDF and FDA, this presents a massive untapped potential within the industry.

What is the FDEA guide for?

The guide aims to answer questions, provide tips and encourage current and potential exporters to reconsider the way they see the export process.

It was announced at an export breakfast held in Parliament for the All Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink Manufacturing. At this event, the director of the FDEA John Whitehead OBE said that there is a worldwide interest in UK food and drink, due to its reputation of quality and taste. He went on to explain that in order to grow, more manufacturers should look beyond their domestic market opportunities and consider exporting.

Angus MacNeil MP, said “The guide from the Food & Drink Federation and the Food & Drink Exporters Association provides invaluable advice and support that will help more food and drink manufacturers sell their products internationally.”
