In honour of our friend and colleague, Kasia

Fifteen members of the Smylies workforce are going to be walking, running and cycling 2,424 miles in honour of our friend and colleague, Kasia, who passed away from cancer at the start of 2022.

Kasia was from Rumia, a town in Poland that is 1.212 miles away from Smylies’ headquarters, which is the inspiration for the challenge.  Our team of fitness enthusiasts will cover the distance and back virtually over the course of the July month.

Making a Difference to Our Community

During her battle against cancer, Kasia was treated by one of the charities supported by Smylies’- Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. However, donations made towards this challenge will be going to local Wirral-based charity, The Martin Gallier Project.

Working across the North West of England, The Martin Gallier Project strives to support suicide intervention, prevention and post-vention, aiming to remove barriers for those who need to access this support in the local community. Further to this, The Martin Gallier Project is extremely committed to eradicating the stigma surround suicide and mental health in society. As part of their life changing work in the Wirral, their team spend time raising awareness and encouraging more conversations about suicide and mental health issues.

August Update

As of the 1st August, the Smylies team were proud to announce the excellent news that we’ve exceeded our target, with the two teams involved clocking up a total of 2,611 miles. Many of our team members took part in the challenge whilst enjoying their summer holidays in countries such as Italy and Greece. The outcome of July’s challenge highlights the greatness that can be achieved when the Smylies team comes together to achieve a goal.

A huge thank you from Smylies to those who have donated, our JustGiving page will continue to be live over the month of August for those looking to make further donations.
